IRS Advises Carriers HVUT Filings – The federal Internal Revenue Service will mail a notice later this month to all filers of IRS Form 2290, on which motor carriers and others report the annual federal heavy vehicle use tax.  The notice concerns two things carriers should keep in mind.

FMCSA finds Alabama-based trucking company to be imminent safety hazard
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today ordered Alabama-based truck company MTI Transportation, LLC, to immediately cease all transportation services based on evidence that it was a chameleon operation for two unsafe truck companies previously shut down by the agency.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Friday, June 29, ordered Tennessee-based truck company Three Angels Farms and its owners, Edwin Ayache and Dorian Ayache, to cease all transportation services immediately based on serious safety violations that posed an imminent hazard to public safety.

Your MCS-150 information shall be updated every two years, based on the schedule 49 CFR 390.19.  It is a good idea to review and update your information any time you have changes to your insurance or business operations.  It should also be known that the CSA calculations use the number of unites operated and the reported mileage data from the MCS-150 in the calculations for unsafe driving and crash basics.
