Temporary Permits

Temporary Trip & Fuel Permits

National Fleet Services is here to help you haul freight between states when the carrier does not have the proper registration or fuel credentials. The permits are issued for short time durations and are quite costly. In general, these permits are issued for a single trip within a state.

Trip Permits – are required when a carrier is not registered in a state that the carrier is going to travel into or through. These permits act as a temporary vehicle registration for the vehicle when traveling into a state that the carrier is not apportioned or registered in.

Fuel Permits – are required when a carrier is not registered with an IFTA license or not registered in a state that the carrier is going to travel into or through. These permits act as a temporary fuel license for a vehicle when traveling into a state.

The temporary permits are issued for short time durations and are quite costly. These permits are issued for a specific time.

These over dimensional permits require careful planning to ensure that each state in which the carrier will transport an oversize / overweight load will be approved. All over dimensional permits are subject to the approval of the state of travel. Therefore, these permits may take between one (1) to six (6) hours to be issued once the correct information is submitted.
